Last year I got to work on an experimental narrative doc for @nowness that was about @kanhoyakushiji_kissaquo a monk that had to choose between leaving his old life in a rock band behind or taking on his parents path of becoming a monk. In the end he chose a happy medium of creating and singing music as a monk. Together we explored the ups, the downs, the confusion and the chaos of what it means to have a destiny that needs to be reckoned with. In essence, it was about fate vs. freewill. Probably one of my favorite shoots ever ft. A reel of my life I think this is the most personal/ emotional thing I’ve ever put out so I put it off for a long time but I think this is everything I’ve really wanted to express about myself for the longest time. My thoughts, my work, my worries, my hopes, my roots, my culture.. everything. Each frame in this means something to me and holds a special place in my heart.
