Introducing Ultra Instinct (@ultrainstinctinfinite) with their cover of Marcy Playground’s “Opium.” 🔗 in bio. A collaboration between Steph Kretowicz and Ben Babbitt, the Los Angeles-based duo’s busted tragic loser pop draws on spoken word text, collaged field recordings, and live-mangled CDJ edits of original tracks to explore the time-tested ritual of combining words and song. After publishing a number of recordings since 2020 including “BSAD (buy shit and die)” via CURL, “Brutal” for Perth Institute of Contemporary Art, and the autofictional radio play, “I Hate Here ft. felicita” (YLE Radio, Finland), Ultra Instinct is a new live iteration of that collaboration.
