I had the honor of working with Irving Penn a handful of times, and these two images come to mind often. Mr. Penn was of another time, a soft spoken gentleman, whose studio on lower Fifth Ave was a portal of magic. I’d tune in to his quietude, with very little direction and unspoken synergy; taking heed to the posted sign that read “no smoking, walk gently and speak quietly”. A true master of his craft, as the saying goes “they don’t make them like they used to”! #IrvingPenn 🖤
