Our Sofia. @polyesterzine ‘s latest cover girl! 💞 We had the best time shooting this, just me and James and Sofia, old school style, on a Saturday in August in our NYC apartment, mid renovation. Big up and respect to @sofiacoppola for coming along for the ride (and a good sandwich!) and to @princessgeorgina and @ionegamble for asking us to take the pictures in the first place. In 2021, @collierschorrstudio was walking down the street in New York, when she found a 1984 copy of the feminist magazine Heresies.⁠ ⁠ “It was in a box of books belonging to the artist Mary Beth Edelson who had recently died,” the photographer tells THE FACE.  ⁠ ⁠ The issue – focused entirely on women directing, writing and performing– struck her as a time capsule of protest and demonstration.⁠ ⁠ “I collaged these pages into @ameliagray’s story as so many of the words seemed applicable to her position; of being a body in a world of images rarely accompanied by words. Amelia and I made these performances together. An image of Miranda and Ariel? 🏝️ I was thinking about “The Tempest” and this beautiful picture of Malgosia and Gisele came to mind. It’s by Richard Avedon of course , and it’s from a story I worked on called “Paradise Lost” with Nicoletta Santoro and Julien D’ys in 2000 for Égoïste Magazine #14.
