CSLA HELIX PRIMES T2.3 CSLA is proud to offer a one-of-kind lens set.  We’ve re-engineered a classic medium format lens, adding additional optics and a unique de-tuning ring, while maintaining the perfect balance of character and performance.  These lenses work in 2 modes and can cover Large Format (Alexa Mini LF / Sony Venice) or 65mm Format (Alexa 265).  2 prototypes are available now for rental, while the remaining set will be completed in 2025. The most unique feature of the set is a de-tuning ring that rotates from 0 (no de-tune) to 5 (max detune).  Dial up the de-tune ring to create increased swirl to the bokeh, softer edges (while maintaining a sharp center), and a slightly more bloomed image. Why rehouse a vintage lens?  The rehousing improves optical alignment nearly impossible to achieve in many original, vintage housings. This centering of the optics allows for a higher and more symmetrical resolution across the image.  The rehoused lenses also no longer bind up when adding a clip on mattebox and no longer telescope when changing focus.  Additional improvements include a non-linear cam focus system, evenly distributing focus marks and giving greater accuracy for focus pulling at longer distances.
