💡 🎥 🎬 We’re Back! And releasing our first ever showreel! Since December 2020 Double J has been producing short films that put storytelling at the core of each film. We challenge perspectives, encourage ambition, and thrive off creativity! Back in 2022 we set out to do our most ambitious project yet, our first feature film - Blueberry Pancakes & Blank Pages. Now, a feature film is no easy feat (as many filmmakers can imagine) and while the beginning of this year looked a little different to how it actually turned out - Double J values transparency & is here to shed some light on the matter. When you take a look at the industry and hear about all the horror stories happening to productions but think “oh that could never happen to me”, well…it indeed happened to Double J and this project. When you have worked years to build a project to the ambition of a multimillion dollar project to life, only to be ripped away from you mere weeks into official pre-production for reasons outside your control it is not only devastating to you, but also everyone associated. My sole role as a producer will always be to provide and protect my crew, and I take great pride in that. This whole experience has shown me though that there are limits as to how much that can be, and this will be your test. Your test to overcome the pushback, the ones who doubted you all along, the ones who don’t believe you are doing everything in your power to make it right (even if it doesn’t turn out the way either of you had hoped) This is the test. After months of nonstop work, borderline burnout, and the occasional (okay, many) set backs to turn this production around — there have been the few new and established supporters of Double J that have brought a bright light to the future of not only Blueberry Pancakes & Blank Pages, but to Double J. Where there is a will, there will always be a way. And where there will be people that doubt you, there lies the fire you need to keep going. The next 6 months are going to look a little different here at Double J as we remedy, rebuild, and get ready to make the feature we set out to in the shoot period we were always meant to (one year later…) 🩵🎬

After wrapping our 6th short film and a feature on the way, for those of you who don’t know what Double J is about or the woman behind the company, let me tell you! “I started Double J at the end of 2020 with a goal to produce projects where the story would be at the heart of what we do, crew and cast would be treated with great respect, and to strive to make set an enjoyable working environment amongst the stress that can come with filmmaking (because making a film should be fun!) I got into filmmaking by my love of acting and over the course of the films I’ve had the pleasure of making, I’ve fallen in love with providing opportunities to new filmmakers wanting to make their films come to life. An early milestone celebration for 3 years of Double J☺️ It’s been a lot of learning, and I’ll never be done, so thank you to everyone who continues to believe in Double J and helping make these films come to life. Coming soon I will be releasing a number of services and opportunities to help the next generation of filmmakers — so please look out for them!
