Sweaty Summer 💧 continues on with two rly special parties this weekend starting tomorrow 7/26 ✨✨✨🪩🪩🪩🪩✨✨✨ my first set is an opener at 10:00pm for a new party at @bar.jade.bk called Nephritic Nights. Nephrite is the term for jade rocks 🪨 the headliner coming up from baltimore is Peter Linck ( @2percentmilkz ) who is an astoundingly gifted vinyl selector & technical mixer. Peter also co-founded the beloved underground party Carouse at the now defunct @nightlightclub so you know he’s bringing a sack of legit wax with him. a true rare treat ~ trust me on this one‼️ i’ll be playing the perfect early vibes👌 ✨✨✨🪩🪩🪩🪩✨✨✨ then at 2:00am i drop the needle at @metropolitan_bk for the second iteration of new queer & trans-centric party Alumina. *extremely* grateful to be invited by @halo.333.nyc - the focus of this party is so close to the style of music in my soul, with an emphasis on, gay, soulful, pure house. cute flick for the algo of me working the mixer at the wonderful party in Buffalo this past weekend. huge thanks to @ktronandfriends for all the effort they put in making it happen. now i’m back home preparing for what i consider the most meaningful performance of my life this friday. for context, a short story: i bought my first pair of turntables in 2008, shortly after attending my first rave. i was desperate to buy dance records, but had no idea what to look for or how much to pay. during that time a lot of vinyl deejays from the 90s were selling their collection on ebay in bulk lots. i bought a box of 50 records for 40 dollars(!) and was delivered a crate of what i now know to be extremely tasteful underground house records. many of those records it took years for me to understand how good they were, but the first - like actual first - house record i ever immediately fell in love with was “Today” by Ian Pooley, 1995 on X Factor. i must have spun it 100 times or more in the following years, before gifting it to my dear close friend @doyouknow.jp as a symbol of our deep connection & friendship in 2016. fast forward to 2024 and i genuinely am floored that i have been given the honor to open for this living legend and deep influence on my career as a house music deejay. in preparation i have been combing thru my ENTIRE collection pulling only the most meaningful house jams i have accumulated these last 15 years - the records that truly make me FEEL. all the way from the first purchases in 2008 up till now. only my most cherished wax will be with me on friday. it truly feels like a full circle moment, and i really hope you all can join me on friday, under the strawberry moon as i lay bare my ode to house music. mountains of gratitude for the people who made this happen, @publicrecordsnyc @e____lite and the man himself @ianpooley.ofc hit me up for list 📝 buy your tickets 🎟️ and let the record spin 💃🏼 i’ll see you on the dancefloor💕

✨ Souland Artist Spotlight ✨ A Lana Alana Jordan, who deejays as A Lana, is a New York born & Brooklyn based vinyl deejay with a collection of over 2000 records meticulously curated over 15 years. She views herself as not just a DJ but more importantly an archivist and storyteller - preserving and presenting the most special records that bring dance floor joy in all its mysterious forms. Her style primarily runs through the river of House, trickling off into tributaries of Disco, Breaks, Boogie, Funk, and other soulful music that finds its way to her - with a firm grounding in the belief that Love is the Message. Having been introduced to House in Chicago and Detroit, she spent many years consistently deejaying in Buffalo New York before continuing on to help throw the fondly remembered Community Links parties in Boston and later her own popular party, Carouse, which ran for over two years in North Carolina. Upon moving back home to NYC in summer 2021 she delivered an entry in renowned mix series Daisychain, as well as several thunderous sets at Boss Nova Civic Club, earning her a residency at the Flux party alongside DJ Aeon & Connor Wrong. Detroit… what can i say that lacks the ability to even be embodied by words. when i first attended movement weekend 12 years ago - it changed my life. and now to return for my ninth time, it truly felt like a full circle moment. to see all my friends grown up, how far we’ve all come, each contributing our entire souls to the scene that has given us so much - was an extraordinarily profound experience. the single word to sum up this weekend is Affirmation. affirmation of energies & hearts being in the right place. affirmation of self; of being who we are. affirmation that despite the helplessly dark, deeply unsettling times we are living through that there is still some light in all of us. the they say house music is a spiritual thing; a healing thing. this weekend was an affirmation that that i can heal - that we can ALL heal - underneath the disco ball 🪩 coming back to New York with 6 gigs planned this pride month from only once last year - my heart is more full than ever before. to be able to bring my message to the dancefloor is a honor next to none. i’m so wildly excited to see what this year brings all the talented artists around me. ❗️it’s time for a Detroit post❗️ after staying behind in brooklyn the last 2 years to help keep local clubs running, i am finally making a return to this very special city for memorial day weekend. to celebrate i’ve dug out some old phones to share some archival pics and footage, telling the amazing story of life defining moments in Detroit Rock City☀️✨🪩 1: view from the top of the world. detroit facing west. 2: first night ever in the D. highly illegal rave on the third floor of a foreclosed building. ppl standing outside charged us 20$ and then ravers inside told us it was free 😂 3: @blucu playing sunset at the mainstage in 2012. the first house set that ever truly mesmerized me. my first trip to smartbar 2 months later solidified a lifelong obsession w house 🏡 4: Need I Say More at the Old miami 2013. @soulclapofficial closed with this illegal @toddterje edit of Stealers Wheel. their set began 7am with reggae 45’s. this party, and specifically this set, changed my idea of a good underground deejay set forever. to this day the best after party i’ve ever been to 5: i actually still have the flier. it was 10$ omg 😭 i was handed this on the sidewalk (miss those days) and come on how could you resist? 6: the massive line for Need I Say More 2014. lee foss was there ripping huge lines of K and someone was like, “don’t u have to play the festival in like 45 minutes?” we left thinking there’s NO WAY he’s making it to that set. but then… 7: we got to the festival and there he was, beaten us to the plaza, spinning to a delighted crowd. seen here playing the drop in the mindbender of a record: Ace of Spades by DJ Silversurfer. note his drinking ciroc from the bottle & michael jackson twirl 8: the next year soulclap changed my life again when i went to house of e funk 2015. @scottgroovesdj and @staceypullen_official delivered unforgettable, hyper taste refining sets. @soulclapeli seen here taking over around 9am 9: @rodhad_wsnwg b2b @ben_klock at the Works 2015. best techno set i’ve ever been too. insane visuals 10: NISM 2015, first time i saw dan bell with his unmistakable touch. i will always be a super fan. seen here playing Seuil - Al Capote.
