For most, this would mean the greatest happiness, but for Jenny, it stirs ambivalent feelings as life has already dealt her many hardships. She has clashed with the justice system and child welfare services, and her relationship with Bolle is increasingly strained by their drug addiction. When they are assigned family midwife Marla (@friederike.becht), Jenny initially reacts dismissively. But to her surprise, Marla does not judge her; instead, she sees the person Jenny truly is. Slowly, Jenny begins to trust Marla. She starts to confront her fears and take responsibility—not just for the new life growing inside her, but most importantly, for herself. Based on her own award-winning screenplay, Chiara Fleischhacker delivers an outstanding feature film debut full of emotional power, hope, and tenderness. Breakout star Emma Nova gives a phenomenal performance alongside the equally impressive Paul Wollin. VENA has won two major awards at this year’s First Steps Awards (@firststepsaward), the most prestigious film prize for emerging talent, including Best Feature Film. The German Film and Media Rating Agency (@fbw_filmbewertung) also awarded VENA the distinction of “particularly valuable.”

The Tyger The tiger, one of the world’s most iconic animals, is also critically endangered. Three subspecies are already extinct, and the South China tiger may have followed.
