A young girl, eager for her upcoming wedding, sits in a horse-drawn carriage. The night is dark, with moonlight casting ominous shadows across the landscape. Suddenly, the shadows spook the horses, causing the driver to lose control of the carriage. Amidst the chaos, the carriage plunges into a dark lake, where the girl tragically drowns. According to legend, her betrothed, a young squire, was so heartbroken that he spent years wandering the castle park in search of his lost love. Occasionally, a figure in a white dress would appear but vanish just as quickly. Today, the White Lady walks the park after dark in search of her beloved fiancé. She appears in flashes only to disappear again with a sigh.** Since then, men have occasionally spotted her wandering the park. She also manifests in room 146, where she is known to overturn objects and rearrange furniture.**Due to her untimely death just days before her wedding, it’s believed that she only reveals herself to men. Mentioned as early as the 13th century, Hindsgavl Castle’s current structures date back to 1784. Today, it serves as a hotel.
