Thank you @molliepie for capturing me in a way I’ve never seen myself before, and in the streets of my beloved Berlin! A lot of gratitude. And thanks @jimmyfairly for the specs, they really seal the deal.

Jonny approached me with the idea to mark his one year anniversary since navigating living with Stage 2 Testicular Cancer. To capture him, honouring his journey and how far he has come, from discovery to remission, felt important, poignant and necessary. He has inspired me greatly and I hope he will inspire you too.

In Jonny’s words:

“I found a lump on my testicle last November, and was told within a month that it was a malignant tumour and needed surgery.

I had an orchidectomy at the end of the year, where my testicle was removed. About a month later of getting used to this new normal of having one ball, I was told my bloods still showed signs of active cancer.

It had spread to my abdomen, so I was back at the hospital to sign a consent form for 9 weeks of chemotherapy. Navigating the next chapter involved countless needles and infusions of toxic drugs. Coming out of this period was followed by a discussion with a surgeon to operate and remove lymph nodes by my spine. Only 7 weeks post-chemo, I carried every word & feeling of strength I had to face this and spent the early weeks of Summer recovering. The feeling of treatment ending is a relief, but the fear of cancer stays with you.

I’m now 7 months in remission. I wear my scars and experiences as the signs of bravery and strength that they are, and I hope others see this too.”

Special thanks to @alannanicolex & @groovyhousestudio
