last week’s velvety soft launch of @rendezvousbxl 🦢 captured by @sander_h_sander 🪄 see you next year for the full edition of brussels gallery week, hosted by dearies @lauredcc and @evelyn_simons For the identity of RendezVous - Brussels Art Week, we wanted to capture the eclectic and avant-garde nature of Brussels, where the line between high art and hedonistic pleasure blurs. Inspired by the aesthetic of eighies glam, we treated the identity as a scene that’s as tacky as it is classy, as rave as it is refined; a fusion of glossy textures such as black foiling and silver vinyl and rhinestone gems, pink marbled Aegean papers, and provocative subjects in the photography. We wanted to reflect both sophistication, “bad taste” and rebellion. The imagery of latex, silk, glass, and mirrors, coupled with the evocative mood of overexposure and soft focus, portrays Brussels where high-end meets raw underground culture. The initial briefing was the best I ever received: Rendezvous should have the charm of an opulent living room, where the air is thick with the remnants of past revelries and too many cigarettes. Dancing on the fine line between decadent excess and elegance.

souvenirs of @rendezvousbxl with a custom typedesign by Quentin Lamouroux and @simon_bvr from @bye.byebinary a hand-drawn reinterpretation (and a furry version!) of the Monsieur Doulaise, typically used for classic invitation calligraphy from. The Madame Doulaise variant is a nostalgic homage to eighties glam and elegance mixed with furry textures, capturing the eclectic spirit of Brussels — where perfumed fur coats rustle against grimy leather rave jackets.
