It’s a symbol of respect and commitment to the bride, her family, and the marriage… the song is a story about meeting my future wife 4. produced this beat from scratch- incorporating slap bass and a mbira - an instrument from Zimbabwe (hand piano) Amapiano is EDM so adding live instruments makes it stand out a bit more. When I originally sang the hook, it was an extremely low tone. I had to almost whisper to sing that low - when I recorded the actual hook in the studio - I sang a bit higher so that it’s actually feasible to perform live and loud. The track opens with a hip hop beat but quickly drops in a South African rhythm making a bouncy fusion of sounds. (Hip hop, funk, neo-soul, Amapiano/house) 5.
