We are at a moment of great collective reckoning, awaking, enlightening, and disruption. The triggers of this alchemizing process are inevitable and the outcome of such forces are unknown.
•
We only captured the Life/Death part of the cycle — for the rebirth is still in process — and wanted the viewer to be participatory. How can your imagination ignite through the fire, of envisioning the otherside, from death, back into life.

Just some more of the amazing impressions from the exhibition. Not sure, but isn‘t it meta if the photographer takes photos of her own printed out photos? Just in love with the pictures and the pictures in the pictures. Looking forward to see more and post more of your work @mayarattia 😍

'Justice Suicides.'
(3/3)
All of this got me thinking, if the personification of justice would look at this world right now, what would she do? And the first thing that came to my mind was suicide. Not that I want to promote that, I just wanted to visually express the hopelessness that I (and many others) feel sometimes while trying to make a difference.
So I got together with my great friend and amazing photographer Mayar and we worked out a concept for this photoshoot together alongside our beautiful model Juila...and this is what we created.
Athough Themis can glance at the future, we humans are unfortunately bound to our limitations of only being able to witness the horrors of our present. This is a scary and lonely time we live in and we will all go down together if we don’t rise up and do whatever we can. Drop the weapons and let justice prevail again before it's too late for humanity. The pure and innocent don't deserve to fight for other people's guilt. Don't turn a blind eye to life but to hate.
No one is free until the world is free.

'Justice Suicides.'
(2/3)
For a long time now I have had the urge to make more political art. Because since I was a kid I've always wanted to change the world, make it a better place... But somehow, somewhere along the way of becoming an adult, the urge to change the world was kind of numbed by just trying to survive in this capitalist system. The everyday basic life struggles took so much energy from me that I just stopped engaging in politics and activism. But then in October of last year when the situation in Palestine escalated, I couldn't look away anymore. It was a wake-up call for me and I realized that it does make a difference when you speak up. For such a long time I didn't feel like I, as a single person, could make a difference in this world and it still feels impossible sometimes, but also I don't want to stop trying.
So I have been thinking on what to do, what to say about this situation, about this ongoing genocide. It's really hard to find words to describe this brutality, this insanity. Every time I think about it, I can't believe this is actually happening. I can't believe that humanity is that rotten. I can't believe that we've gone so far and there is still no end in sight. I can't believe that justice doesn't mean anything anymore.

'Justice Suicides.'
(1/3)
Themis “Θέμις,” - is the Goddess of Divine Order and Law. She is the embodiment and personification of justice. Hence she is also known as 'Lady Justice'. As seen, she is blindfolded because justice should be unbiased; devoid of prejudice against any people no matter their appearance, wealth, power, belief, or ethnicity. Lady Justice is most notable for the scales and sword she holds, the scales representing the impartiality of the court's decisions and the sword as a symbol of the power of justice. She was considered a prophetic goddess that could see into future, which granted her a position above other earthly oracles. She spoke of many famous prophecies in her role as the oracular voice of earth, for people have lost their faint voices in the unjust reality they live in.
