@mreazi & @angeliquekidjo - Óròkóró Director : @thomasllp__ « I wanted to make a true « spiritual musical ». In my work I love developed visuals with movements and people. That’s why i was very interested to work a music video around this idea of ritual. It was very important for me to make a music video around the dance and the singing. A true « spiritual musical » like a ritual mixing modernity and legacy. Moreover i put my personal visual universe, inspired by Wong Kar Wai, Kurosawa or Wim Wenders for making a mix with the universe of Eazi. All the artistic direction was inspired by the Voodoo aesthetic. The Benin, birthplace of voodoo and Angelique Kidjo were my firsts inspirations. During my research, I discovered Ouidah at the same time, spiritual place of Voodoo culture and a place of slavery in the 17th century. The colors, and the positions of people at the end are inspired by traditional clothes, reference about the slavery and the women warriors : The Amazones of Dahomey (particularly a picture of these amazones, with some women who are lied down with weapon). Angélique was like a queen in a throne surrounded by women and Mr Eazi was like a preacher/messenger with dancers around him. The music video is a succession of tableau, like a musical. So we used dolly travelling, crane and static shots and the movement will come from the actors and props in the background. I was envisioning a very specific cinematography, precise and built like painting.
