I am very excited that the book I have been writing, together with @MitchAndersonAF @amazonfrontlines, already has a cover and release date. We have dedicated many years to this book, the next day after my son was born, we started writing. The book deals with my memories as an indigenous woman from the Amazon and also the story of the struggles we have fought and the hopes we have. I decided to write to break with what has been written about us as Waorani People, always described from the outside, with judgment about who we are and what we believe. Now I write about my own People and from what we have experienced, about what it means to be born in the Waorani nation, to be taken out of the forest against my will by missionaries, and to return to it when called by my ancestors through dreams. This book is also a denunciation of the threats and dangers facing the Amazon Rainforest and how we can transform the impossible into the possible when we unite. Jaguars in the urban wild!!!!! 🐆 It’s been fun and beautiful and moving - since the first days of publication - to see We Will Be Jaguars in bookstores across the US. Recently a friend in #NYC sent us a series of “jaguar spottings” in bookstore windows across #Manhattan and #Brooklyn (which was so awesome to see!). A big thanks to @ReeseWitherspoon and @reesesbookclub for shouting about #WeWillBeJaguars from the rooftops for the entire month of November!!!
