Honored, delighted, and proud to present the aftermath of a full day recording session with my good friends. The first recording session was over 8 months ago, but so much work had to be done outside of the studio first. It’s only a small percent of your time that ever gets the nice photo ops, unfortunately. Luckily we’re starting to get to the really cool part, and John Busi of @newspaceaudio was kind enough to let us loose in his studio for as long as we could stand it. Album is titled Idioms of Distress Music, guitar and vocals by Harry Grupper @harrythegrupper Bass and cello by Luke Beaver @luke.s.beaver Drums by Malcolm Olson @malcm4 Produced and engineered by myself @studiobison Keep an eye out, the project isn’t done yet.

27 takes give or take, several mock-ups including one very aggressive and later abandoned tempo map (take 13) and in total 240 min total of repeated drum takes, all to just arrive at what you are hearing, which is really just the start. I could have settled for #13 and almost did but in the “acting on your highest excitement” principal it’s ok to admit it’s fun to keep going back to the drawing board as many times as you need to get something really great. Looking forward to getting vocals on these new songs soon and releasing them by years end 🙏

Jesus Christ that’s a solid beat! Meant to post on Easter, than I thought that purple light above kinda looks like an a eclipse but then I forgot to post it til now but at least I didn’t forget to practice to a metronome!! It’s not about complexity it’s about consistency, slowly I am learning. Also violet light makes everything look awesome, no filter as always!
