We went #behindthescenes with #cinematographer Olan Collardy (@olancollardy) on his kinetic spot for @delta & #TeamUSA's 'Olympics 2024' campaign 🥇🎥 "I would say the look of the spot is a beautiful blend of the everyday and the extraordinary. We wanted to capture the authentic, gritty determination of Olympic athletes—their sweat, their hard work, their moments of doubt and triumph. The cinematography reflects this vision by incorporating a naturalistic aesthetic that feels authentic and relatable, yet elevated to highlight the extraordinary nature of their journey. Raine Allen-Miller (@raineallenmiller), the #director, has a unique vision that thrives on the distinctive look of #anamorphic lenses. They give her work a special kind of life and depth. For this project, we needed to deliver in a 16x9 format, which usually means compromising on the anamorphic feel we both love. The #UltraPanatarII lenses were our ideal solution. They allow us to capture a 1.78 aspect ratio on a 4:3 sensor, perfectly fitting our 16x9 delivery needs while preserving the anamorphic character. These lenses provided that beautiful horizontal flare and organic bokeh we cherish, without sacrificing the image quality. It was like finding a perfect harmony between form and function. It felt like capturing the raw essence of the athletes' journey while framing it in a way that does justice to their epic resilience and spirit. My connection with #Panavision feels less like a business relationship and more like a partnership built on trust and shared passion. They have supported nearly all my projects, always going above and beyond to meet the unique demands of each one. For this commercial, which was a massive undertaking in Los Angeles over nine days, I knew Panavision would be there every step of the way. Panavision’s commitment is unwavering; whether it's getting a specific lens on a plane at the last minute or providing insightful advice, they treat every project with utmost dedication. It's this blend of deep technical knowledge and genuine care that makes working with Panavision feel like coming home."
