Join us for RADfest 1.0 for a weekend of art, resilience, and community as we celebrate the soft reopening of Asheville’s River Arts District.

The event will take place on Saturday, November 9th and Sunday, November 10th from 12-6 both days.

The River Arts District is home to hundreds of artists and on September 27th, 80% of the RAD was severely damaged by flooding from Hurricane Helene. Many studios, galleries, artworks, and supplies were lost and artists are working hard to rebuild. Now, more than ever, the artists and small businesses of the River Arts District need community support.

During the soft opening, visit open studios and galleries along Roberts St, Artful Way, Clingman Ave, and upper Depot St. Shop directly from displaced RAD artists at our RADfest art market in the @pinegaterenewables parking lot at 130 Roberts St and next door to @pinkdogcreative at 344 Depot St.

The event will feature food trucks and live music as we come together to rebuild and revitalize our beloved River Arts District.

Stay tuned for updates on participating studios, galleries, and artists, as well as parking information. Carpooling or walking to the event is encouraged. Your support means the world to River Arts District Artists-see you there!

To donate to the RADA Flood Relief Fund, please visit www.riverartsdistrict.com/donate

To directly shop from RADA artists from afar, please visit our website for artist profiles with shop links:

RADA Flood Relief stipend applications are now open for RAD artists.

RADA members and non-members with studio and/or gallery space in Asheville’s River Arts District on 9/26/2024 are eligible to apply and receive a stipend. RAD artists, please visit the homepage of our website to fill out the application:
https://www.riverartsdistrict.com

The RADA Board and RADA Foundation are working together on a three phase response to the Helene flood disaster, beginning with stipends for RADA members and non-members with representation in the River Arts District.

Phase One: Stipends to artists impacted by the flood.
Phase Two: Support the studios to reopen and secure space for artists to sell and work.
Phase Three: Rebuild within the River Arts District as fundraising allows.

Artists in the RAD are impacted by loss of work space, loss of sales venues, loss of finished and in-progress works of art, loss of equipment and materials, loss of income, and more. Our goal is to support the RAD Artist community and restore Asheville’s River Arts District.

If you would like to donate the RADA Flood Relief Fund and support our efforts, please visit https://www.riverartsdistrict.com/donate/

Two weeks ago, Asheville’s River Arts District experienced catastrophic flooding due to Hurricane Helene. 70-80% of buildings were damaged, with art and livelihoods washed away. Reopening and rebuilding will take time, energy, and a lot of love, but we are a hopeful and hardworking community of artists. RAD artists have rallied together to salvage art, clean out damaged buildings, and support one another. Watch our stories to see updates from around the River Arts District.

RADA (River Arts District Artists, Inc.) and the RADA Foundation are working to support RAD artists and rebuild. Your support is greatly appreciated and we look forward to seeing you down the road. Please donate to the RADA Flood Relief Fund:

Trackside Studios is Back! 🌟

On September 27th, Helene’s floods filled this beautiful gallery with 6 feet of water. After two months of hard work, dedication, and over 200 volunteers contributing thousands of hours, Trackside Studios is reopening. Join us in celebrating this important milestone during the Trackside Studios Holiday Market on December 6th, 7th, and 8th, from 11 AM to 5 PM each day.

During the Holiday Market, come show support for Trackside artists by shopping for ornaments, prints, and art salvaged from the flood. Every purchase helps our creative community rebuild and thrive!

Since its founding in 2015 with just 14 artists, Trackside has grown to represent over 60 artists, offering working studios, gallery space, classes, and now 10 dedicated spaces for displaced RAD artists. This reopening symbolizes the River Arts District and RADA’s resilience and commitment to growing stronger together in the wake of devastation.

We are immensely proud of Julie, Michael, Aura Arts, and all the volunteers at Trackside Studios for being a shining light in our community and continuing to foster a vibrant and welcoming space for artists to create, grow, and collaborate. This huge achievement gives us hope for a very bright future ahead for Asheville’s River Arts District.

Celebrate Small Business Saturday with River Arts District Artists! Studios and galleries on Roberts, Artful Way, Clingman, and upper Depot are open, but while you’re out supporting small businesses, be sure to stop by the Holiday Pop-up at the West Asheville Lowe’s.

On November 30th from 10-2, you’ll find a curated group of 25 RAD Artists selling their work, demonstrating their process, and taking commissions in the Lowe’s parking lot. Enjoy food trucks, kids’ activities, and a festive atmosphere while supporting local RAD artists recovering from Helene.

Lowe’s is also providing $1,000 grants to participating artists as part of their $2.5M Western NC Small Business Recovery Fund—helping RAD artists and makers thrive after the challenges of Hurricane Helene. Thank you @loweshomeimprovement and @cltiscreative!
