Debuting tomorrow at @laforet_h at the @sailosaibin popup -> the second installment of TWO WAY TIE FOR LAST courtesy of @samuelrhodes dba @week.end.romance and @ianlynam dba @wordshape !!!! Two essays that answer the question, “What is a ‘hit’ in graphic design?”—essays that are far too long to fit on a shirt, so we designed a tres fancy microsite that contains the full text! But how do you access it?🤔 Via the QR code printed on the shirt, of course!!! After initial pen and paper sketching, here’s the iPad process for the “Ridiculously Cool from Head to Toe” lettering. Most of what you see here was on a long train ride from Yokosuka back to Tokyo. Long detour into pinstriping because I was thinking about getting some of those details in there, and even if not I wanted that sort of construction to inform the strokes and the way the letters worked together. Cool S just manifested itself in there, like it often does… Massive thanks to @digitaldebz @shokupan.inc for the trust and for being 𝕽𝖎𝖉𝖎𝖈𝖚𝖑𝖔𝖚𝖘𝖑𝖞 𝕮𝖔𝖔𝖑! In phases: short narratives and vignettes for each chapter of the journey toward the horizon has a distinct setting, action, look, and (motion) graphic device referencing calculus limits, esoteric diagrams, and analog instrumentation.
