@nadiasirota premiered @donnachadennehy’s 𝙏𝙚𝙨𝙨𝙚𝙡𝙡𝙖𝙩𝙪𝙢 (𝙑𝙚𝙧𝙨𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙄𝙄) with the @laphil, conducted by @mollyxiuturner and it was EPIC! Curated by Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Ellen Reid, Noon to Midnight explores the intersection of art, technology, and nature through the lens of field recordings. Working with Kronos on West Coast Sky Forever was a dream. Their joy, passion and curiosity exudes through their playing. West Coast Sky Forever was written to evoke the view from the top of the dusty mountain peaks in Los Angeles’s Griffith Park. Spiritual Sun (feat. Shabaka Hutchings), from my upcoming album ☀️Big Majestic☀️ drops today! Creating Spiritual Sun was a joyous in-studio collaboration with Shabaka. He so artfully inhabited the sonic structure I created, building multi-voiced shakuhachi counterpoint, line by line, in a series of dazzling first takes. I was inspired to find ways to hold his performance in a neon embrace, expanding the synth lines to surround his flutes.
