Fake photos and fake images, alongside fake news, threaten the trustworthiness and credibility of new media and old.

However, being unable to spot a fake may be a thing of the past.

The big camera producers have been working on a technological fix which will effectively give every original photo a computerised birth mark, so to speak, meaning you'll be able to click on an image to see what the original really looked like.

It means when images go viral, you'll be able to tell immediately wether it's real or fake.

@nickdidlick is a photography and technology expert who's been working on the ground breaking technology.

Love this analysis from coach of the Matildas Tom Sermanni when asked wether he expects the same from Brazil in game two on the Gold Coast on Sunday (i.e. tough, physical, diving, acting, aggressive, frustrating and winning)...

Canada's Privacy Commissioner has launched an investigation into WADA (World Anti-Doping Agency) and the use of private data. The legal counsel for the Ontario Ministry of Health and lecturer at Toronto University, Marcus Mazzucco, details why he thinks WADA is in breach of the law - by legally testing for doping, but then using the data to determine gender eligibility.

Also on this episode, Mat Jessep from Game Legal, has been looking at changes to privacy laws in Australia and some of the dangers for sports federations and the media through the disclosure of something as simple as an athlete's mobile phone number. Research was commissioned by Blinder.
And, photographic and technology expert @nickdidlick on developing equipment that will identify fake photos and imagery as the news media tries to re-establish trust.

It will be cold, it will be great - the 2026 Milano Cortina Winter Olympics in Italy. Along with four bus loads of like-minded Olympic specialists we got a tour of a couple of the venues in the alps thanks to the organising committee.
Managed to catch up with some of those people you only see once every couple of years - if that.
I can recommend the sights, food, and people of @bormio_tourism and @livigno, who will all help make the @olympics in 2026 a success. Good luck to the @ausolympicteam - all those who are preparing and hoping to be selected.

Eight Olympic boxers wrote to the Federal Sports Minister detailing serious concerns about their safety, almost three weeks later they still have no response.
Turmoil, fear, uncertain, angry, confused, undervalued and unseen.
Those are some of the words used to describe how a group of Australia’s highest performing boxers – Olympic medallists included – feel about a sudden change to their high-performance program which has been stripped from the successful CombatAUS model by Boxing Australia (BA) without any consultation.Based on experience, the letter says, ‘the majority of categorised athletes do not feel they will be safe and do not have trust in Boxing Australia’.

Without doubt one of the defining moments of 2024 was the Paris Olympic and Paralympic Games. It was an honour to be asked by Marie Claire magazine to interview and write a feature on some of our winning women, including Saya Sakakibara, Olympic gold medal BMX rider, who can now add Champion Woman of the Year to her list of accolades after being crowned last night in Sydney.

Repost from @marieclaireau Talent: Jessica Fox @jessfoxcanoe, Alexa Leary @alexa_leary, Saya Sakakibara @sayasakakibara, Nina Kennedy @ninakennedy_ & Ariarne Titmus @ariarnetitmus_

Surfer, sailor, skier, adventurer. Cracking jokes and giving wise advice like an Aussie version of Buddha till he had no more breaths to give. Happiest sailing the ocean and riding the waves of the world, or fishing in the rivers of his ancestors at the bottom of the Snowy Mountains. Darryl (Daz) Raymond Holmes 20.02.1944 - 10.11.2024. Now sailing the never ending ocean and surfing the never ending wave. #RIPdad

What makes a good leader?
Is it authenticity?
It's a word used a lot in sport.
I asked @bonnietoogood co-captain of the @essendon_aflw club about it during a discussion about Indigenous round.

This is what she said...

Has women's #football so easily been set "so far back that it's hard to fully take in" as 100 women players suggest in their letter calling on #FIFA to cut its sponsorship with the Saudi oil giant Aramco?
Women's sport, and even more than that, women's abilities to contribute to the business and economic machinery of Saudi's society, have changed perhaps even more exponentially over the past decade than women's football has in the west.
There are other voices you probably haven't heard in the media rush to amplify the player petition, but they are voices that are equally valid

In this interview with interim Matildas coach, Tom Sermanni, he says he wants the team to get back to basics and one of the most important parts of his role is to help the players get rid of the distractions as they prepare for two friendlies in Europe against Switzerland and Germany later this month.
He says the support the team has is phenomenal, but the trick to being successful off the pitch is to win on it, and to do that you need to focus.
It is one of the challenges of the social media age.
In a separate conversation today, with Olympic gold medal pole vaulter, Nina Kennedy, she said she feels she has found the way to block the noise by knowing who she is and what she stands for. She wishes it was something she was taught at school.
A question for you, is it possible to teach kids at school about resilience and how to get the best from social media rather than having government legislated bans on teenage access after the horse has already bolted?
