BRAT CODED 🍏 @charli_xcx @chrishoran20 thank you for your continuous creative and trend inspiration - this editorial champions the iconic BRAT and the importance of underground culture & why feral behaviour is VALID. Just moving to London myself and living in a converted warehouse space spurred this idea further when I first thought of creating something BRAT CODED when I was in Vietnam. The underground London warehouse rave culture was a large influence on @charli_xcx journey to fame. Without this gritty and vibrant scene, Charli XCX would not be the iconic artist she is today. Our editorial explores the dynamic shift from the polished “clean girl” aesthetic to the unapologetically wild “feral girl” era. As Charli XCX’s latest album “Brat” embraces Y2K influences and promotes slow fashion, it encourages fans to shop sustainably. The “Brat” movement is more than just a fashion statement; it’s a sustainable, fun, and community-oriented phenomenon where maximalism thrives, and everyone can embrace their inner feral. This shoot would have been nothing without the full team/ cast/ wardrobe/ props etc. I’m eternally grateful to everyone’s hard work to make this idea come to vibrant life. Through special effects, we crafted a captivating look featuring rebellious fake piercings, prosthetic ears, unique cut wig and matching aesthetically pleasing dark fairy core styling. The resulting imagery captures a magical yet haunting atmosphere, where enchantment is mixed with darkness. This shoot explores how an aesthetic can be moulded into a personal preference, for example- fairy core you would initially think that this is fem styled, light, lots of pinks/ greens etc. In this editorial the team have adapted the aesthetic to discover if you push ideas can you develop aesthetics within aesthetics.
