It has been a year of fresh starts for fashion chief executive officers.

Some of the changes have been planned — Michelle Gass at Levi Strauss & Co. and Tony Spring at Macy’s Inc. both had long run-up periods that gave them time to prepare to take the helm.

Other CEO switches happened quickly, like Joshua Schulman’s sudden arrival at Burberry. And, in October at least, the changes came all at once with Nike Inc., Gucci, Everlane, Courrèges and more all seeing CEO moves.

Supermodels have sold the world everything, from couture gowns and toothpaste to tomes featuring highlights from their modeling careers. But where did they ever come from?

In a new book from fashion journalist @carolineleaper, “Supermodels Discovered” (Laurence King Publishing), which is set for release Jan. 2, traces the origin stories of 53 faces who have helped change fashion, starting from 1911 to the present day.

“It’s that magic at the start of someone’s career. Those stories are so fascinating and they’re all so different. I’ve gone through over 50 different women and no two people’s stories weigh in the same. They’ve all come from such different backgrounds and in most cases the beginning of someone’s career is a very exciting time, if not the most exciting time for them,” she said.

@balenciaga is betting big on China, opening its largest store in the world in Beijing’s Taikoo Li Sanlitun shopping complex on Wednesday.

The 13,000-square-foot unit comes in tandem with six exclusive product launches, and an exhibition of eight archival looks from “The Subtleties of a Dialogue” show at Kering headquarters in Paris last September.

Empty of products, the sprawling boutique has a ghostly, futuristic atmosphere heightened by all the raw concrete and crumpled leather sofas, bringing to mind some of the sets in “Blade Runner 2049.”

The disruptor-in-chief is back and ready to remake Washington as well as the rules of the road for fashion.

In particular, Trump loves tariffs, which in his hands become a “big stick” form of economic diplomacy. He ran on a promise to impose duties of up to 60 to 100 percent on goods Made in China, and subsequently said he would impose tariffs of 25 percent on goods imported from Mexico and Canada and 10 to 20 percent on goods from other countries. The latter, if they take effect, would not only impact products from low-cost producing nations but also everything from fine wines to luxury goods imported from Europe. (Trump had imposed tariffs on China imports in his first term, most of which the Biden administration has kept in place.)

Where Trump sees an opportunity to pressure other countries, fashion companies see a tax at the border that will increase their own costs and ultimately force them to raise prices on shoppers.

Before the election, the National Retail Federation argued against Trump’s proposed tariffs, saying the plan would have American consumers paying up to an additional $13.9 billion to $24 billion for apparel.

On the flip side, the textile industry sees more tariffs as a matter of life and death.

@pharrell appeared on a new stage on Tuesday night: The main conference room at @UNESCO’s Paris headquarters, where some 800 students gathered to catch a glimpse of the music superstar, and catch a screening of “Piece by Piece,” a biopic about him told via Lego animation.

It was a warmup to his official designation as UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador for Arts Education and Entrepreneurship.

“I never dreamed in 51 years that I would be standing at a podium like this, in a building like this,” he told the audience, seated at delegate desks.

Wearing a green cap, a red @louisvuitton sweatshirt, flared jeans and yellow boots, Williams lamented that “we are at a crisis as a species,” humanity more divided than ever.

The pressure to capitalize on his Hollywood moment and fling himself at everything was never going to be @drewstarkey’s style.

“I’m not a good multitasker at all,” Starkey says. “I like to have a singular thing to focus on. A lot of my peers are really good at juggling a lot of different things at once, and I’m like, ‘how do you do that?’” he adds.

“It is nice to put almost all of your energy into one thing, and really experience it fully. That’s the only way that I know how to work, and that’s how I like to work.”

Since August, the 31-year-old has been laser-focused on “Queer,” his new film costarring Daniel Craig, Jason Schwartzman, Lesley Manville and Omar Apollo.

The project, which reunites director Luca Guadagnino with his “Challengers” screenwriter Justin Kuritzkes and costume designer Jonathan Anderson (of @loewe), is based on the 1985 book by William S. Burroughs and follows an American expat living in Mexico City in the 1950s and his relationship with a younger man new to town.

Ashley Tisdale’s Being Frenshe is entering into hair care.

Since launching @BeingFrenshe in 2022, Tisdale has gone viral several times over with creators on social media posting videos “for her eyes only” to rave about formulas and scents.
At the time of launch, industry sources estimated the brand would reach $20 million its first year; now, it’s on track to do $100 million in 2025.
