Kelvin Harrison Jr. for the cover of Justsmile. How Do We Belong? The theme for Issue 5 of Justsmile is about the people who embody empathy and what it means to be human.
Actor Kelvin Harrison Jr. may not yet be a household name, but his commitment to portraying humanity in every role he undertakes is inspiring. He approaches his craft with a deep sense of responsibility, skillfully embodying influential figures in Black history, from Martin Luther King Jr. to the French-Caribbean musician Joseph Bologne. This winter, he brings his talent to life as the voice of Taka in Disney’s Mufasa: The Lion King, directed by Barry Jenkins; we’ve all been called to do something,’ Harrison Jr. told Nicolas Tyrell-Scott, who wrote the cover story. It’s a reminder that we all have a responsibility—not only to ourselves but also to each other.
