To celebrate the release of @justsmilemagazine Issue 5, we partnered with @cartier to host an intimate dinner at a private residence in Los Angeles. Kelvin Harrison Jr. for the cover of Justsmile. How Do We Belong? The theme for Issue 5 of Justsmile is about the people who embody empathy and what it means to be human. Actor Kelvin Harrison Jr. may not yet be a household name, but his commitment to portraying humanity in every role he undertakes is inspiring. He approaches his craft with a deep sense of responsibility, skillfully embodying influential figures in Black history, from Martin Luther King Jr. to the French-Caribbean musician Joseph Bologne. This winter, he brings his talent to life as the voice of Taka in Disney’s Mufasa: The Lion King, directed by Barry Jenkins; we’ve all been called to do something,’ Harrison Jr. told Nicolas Tyrell-Scott, who wrote the cover story. It’s a reminder that we all have a responsibility—not only to ourselves but also to each other. Thank You @kelvharrjr for your time and for making shooting this cover story a pleasure. Justsmile Issue 3, Reflections are Protections. Our final cover story features Tremaine Emory, founder of Denim Tears. His story is more personal than one could imagine, as he opens his home to the Justsmile team and speaks about his 5 percent chance of living after he was hospitalized due to an abdominal aortic aneurysm. He shares that life isn’t about validation or money, but to be content with your process, personally being proud of what you’re making, and surrounding yourself with those whom you value. As Navy Blue, Sage Elsesser released his album ‘Ways of Knowing’ this year, on a mission to be his authentic self. JUSTSMILE ISSUE 3 REFLECTIONS ARE PROTECTIONS. I commissioned Photograher Julius Frazer and Stylist Brandon Tan to shoot the next wave, boundary-breaking Teezo Touchdown. The polarizing figure is releasing his debut album this fall. The Beaumont, Texas-born artist is currently featured on Travis Scott’s Utopia, as well as album’s by Tyler, the Creator and Lil Yachty, all without having released an album.
