A wedding at a private estate and home is captivating - it warmly welcomes you and evokes an intimate feeling within a grand celebration. With M+A’s wedding, every element was built intentionally into the gardens and waterfront lawns in an effort to create a design that felt as if it always existed and welcomed guests from the moment they arrived - from a hydrangea and seagrass filled curved pathways in lieu of a traditional aisle, to a dance floor and stage built to incorporate existing trees, to a conservatory tent filled with overgrown floral entries and coastal home inspired decor that felt like a botanical garden tucked around the Victorian home. How to mix and match bridal party attire (below) 💫 It’s the season of getting serious about bridal party fashion for our 2025 couples, so let’s divulge a few secrets to help make it easy to get that effortlessly chic, mixed and matched bridal party look: • I • How formal are we talking? Set perimeters. If you’re having a black tie wedding, go for gowns and jumpsuits or pant suits that are long, formal and well-tailored. If the vibe is cocktail attire, go long or short with the hem lines and a little less formal with fabrics. • 2 • Choose a few select shades and stick to them. If you’re choosing one color and multiple shades of it, choose the color and one shade lighter and one shade darker. Stick to those 3 shades. If you’re going for a multicolor look, choose a color for each bridal party attendant. Tell your bridal party to stick to those colors on their attire search. • 3 • Decide if patterns and textures fit the vibe. Patterns, textures and various fabrics give a layered look, and add a lot of movement and depth. If the wedding vision calls for a fashion-forward wedding party, lean fully into patterns, textures and fabrics. If the wedding calls for a more streamlined and clean wedding party look, go with mixing silhouettes and/or colors, keeping the attire in the same 1-2 fabrics and in solids or simple block/ditsy prints. • 4 • Shop at stores that are not specifically bridesmaids dress shops. Have more fun shopping! Look for attire from Saks, Nordstrom, Moda Operandi, Revolve, Reformation, etc. We also love going boutique like @leseaberry_. • 5 • Let your bridal party shine. Let go of those reins. You’ve given them perimeters, now it’s time for them to choose attire they love and FEEL really amazing in to ensure the whole vision comes together. On Thanksgiving eve, I’m fondly reminiscing about Alex and KC’s wedding that began our 2024 season. During the planning journey, I met with Alex and KC in NYC for dinner at one of their favorite restaurants in Greenwich Village to deliver their design plan. Over a shared family-style meal and Olive Branch martinis, we went through the design, page by page. And it became very evident their love for the art of gathering, and their intention to create a shared dining experience with their loved ones that they would cherish forever. The entire principle of it was something I very deeply shared with them. Alex expressed her love and the heart behind a beautifully and thoughtfully prepared meal. One that was meaningful, warm and inviting. From pale blue draping to make @wequassett feel that much more intimate, to candlelight and mini cane dining lamps, a unique floor plan that promoted conversation, personalized notes for every single guest, lobster bisque (because how perfectly fitting for Cape Cod, right?), seashell knife rests because those little details make Alex’s heart happy, to our own version of Olive Branch martinis… Every facet of this reception design intentionally created a space with a deep sense of belonging - for their guests, but also for Alex and KC themselves. On Thanksgiving we hope you immerse yourself in your gatherings, wherever you are and however you choose to celebrate. Peggy and Frank hosted an intimate and meaningful tented wedding on Martha’s Vineyard this Summer, and for their bigger celebration they set their sights on Autumn in NYC - the time and place where they met.
