Beyond thrilled to announce that I’m a... Rizzoli author! @rizzolibooks ❤️❤️❤️ Words aren’t enough to describe this triumph, teamed with the joy I feel for this long, exciting journey (kicked off in 2022 - oh my!!!) in which I collaborated with one of the world’s leading publishing houses to write @zegnaofficial’s new book. ‘Born in Oasi Zegna’ (Rizzoli New York, 2023) recounts the story of Oasi Zegna’s breathtaking landmark: nestled in Trivero, Piedmont (Italy), it’s a man-meets-nature setting where the house’s production has taken place for over a century. The book is enriched by four sections which, in turn, epitomise the cyclical beauty of Oasi Zegna and unpack the founder’s story through anecdotes and literary subjects, highlighting Zegna’s spot in the men’s luxury realm. As a past alumni of Classical studies, when writing this book I felt compelled to read the works of Greek and Latin philosophers - understanding how humans and nature have had an affinity throughout history. And Oasi Zegna’s landmark is one such example: everything began from a seed, which swiftly grew into a tree and inspired the founder to place its company amid the extraordinary lands of the region. So much depth and hard work poured into this, and I’m still in disbelief that I can finally say I’m an author!!! Thank you @zegnaofficial and @rizzolibooks for the immense trust, support and opportunity of letting me tell your story - I’m extremely honoured. Cultural dispatches from Milano: the debut of Paris Opera étoile @humarchand as a lead in Rudolf Nureyev’s Nutcracker at @teatroallascala, who - alongside the company’s Principal Dancer @alimariani - will launch the new ballet season on December 18❣️💋 A joy and an honour to spend an afternoon styling and interviewing such artists, who between coming of age and pushing the edge are at the peak of their stride, revealing an ever-inspiring energy that comes from the experienced fingertips of ballet mentors, sheer relentlessness and utter devotion to their practice. As they said: “I remember being in the studio as a kid, realising that my body was going to be a tool to express feelings,” recalls Marchand, talking with a poised demeanour like we’re in the back row at school. “While growing up, you become acquainted with the fact you have a body and you feel differently about it. That was the first thing that struck me strongly: that I had a body I could use, and within myself, I was triggered that this was going to be a tool of freedom.” The first time Mariani met Marchand in January, she had a winsome feeling about him. “I think we’re missing a dancer like him at La Scala, so I think it is an amazing opportunity for our theatre and for us dancers to work with someone like him. Plus, he’s such a hard worker fully committed to his role.” I’m SO here for this amazingly game-changing set of artists who are writing history on their own terms, shaping the codes of theatre and far beyond. There’s never a bad time to eulogise mesmerising works of art, especially when they come from a place of sheer intent. Upon closer inspection, the canvases of Lebanese-Venezuelan painter @angelo.mnsr make for a captivating practice, which weighs in on the parallels of identity, plurality and longing to belong. “How I want to feel with my paintings is like a safe space where viewers could just relax, even though they have a lot to say on the side of culture, religion and faith,” Mansour opins, reflecting on the cross-pollination of references that shape his works. “I want people to understand, even though the world is a scary place and there’s a lot of issues going around it, to feel safe, sit down, take a good breath and come to terms that there’s a lot of complexities happening before us.” Born in Lebanon, after living in Victoria Island (Nigeria) for over a decade due to his father’s job, Mansour moved to Milan aged 19 - the year of Beirut’s explosions. Since then, his creative vein has gained a deeper approach, pointing to vulnerability and emotion-laced turmoil in equal measure. “If you can’t go home, where is home?” He muses, his head tilting with dismay. “Once I step onto my country’s ground, even though it’s in a bad state, just listening to my first language feels soothing.
