We commemorate the artist Rebecca Horn (1944 - 2024) who passed away last Friday. Rebecca Horn was an extraordinary female artist, experimenting with the nature and perception of the human body through performances and kinetic scultpures or installations. She used film as a narrative and documentary medium and blurred the lines between art and film. We were honored to restore her film legacy in the past two years, which included mostly 16 and 35 mm original negatives, camera reversal originals and prints. Horn‘s newly restored experimental films are shown in a solo exhibition at @haus_der_kunst in Munich until October 13th. The film stills shown in this post are part of our restoration documentation and contain images from Performances I & II and Berliner Tagebuch. #rebeccahorn

70 years after its release, a lost gem of Brazilian cinema – “Mulher de Verdade” (1954) by Alberto Cavalcanti, made during the director's return to his native country after years working in Europe – has been beautifully restored in 4K and is now available to stream for free on locarnofestival.ch [link in bio] until January 10, 2025. Conserved by @cinemateca.brasileira, the film has found a new life thanks to the Locarno Film Festival, after having won the 2023 Heritage restoration contest of Locarno Heritage: @locarnopro's project devoted to the classic film industry.
