An insecure man, despite his age or race, is the most dangerous man on the planet. He ruthlessly punishes everyone for his inadequacies. #vote

When the election is over (and hopefully the outcomes will lead to a better world), please keep following the case against Lee Gilley, who is now out on bond. He allegedly murdered his pregnant wife Christa Gilley and their unborn child because his PhD educated wife did not want to stay home and be a traditional wife.

I had the pleasure of serving as EP on MINSEO by Emily May Jampel. The #documentary is a sensitive portrait of Minseo Angelica Kim (she/they), a young Korean American model, as they navigate life and a fashion career in New York. From micro-aggressions on set to conversations with supportive, but concerned, parents, we highlight various intimate moments from this new chapter in Minseo’s life.

MINSEO will be having its New York premiere on 8/8/2024 in the How To Live As An Asian Woman In NYC shorts program at the 47th Asian American International Film Festival, which runs August 1-11 @asiancinevision.

For those who can’t attend the screening in person, MINSEO premiered globally online on @nownessasia and is available to view there and on @vimeo. I’m just sharing 90 seconds here.

Congrats to Emily, Stevie, Jack, Minseo, and everyone involved!

So excited to share that Forge has now wrapped on casting of our supporting cast! #castingnews

DEADLINE EXCLUSIVE #2: The indie dark comedy Forge, currently shooting in Miami, has set its supporting cast. Newcomers include Edmund Donovan (Civil War), Eva De Dominici (The Cleaning Lady), Jack Falahee (How to Get Away with Murder), T. R. Knight (The Flight Attendant), Sonya Walger (For All Mankind), Raymond Ma (Always Be My Maybe) and Dawn Ying Yuen (The Harvest).

While we’re told Donovan will play a disgraced millionaire involved with art forgery, all other roles are under wraps. Forge‘s leads are Kelly Marie Tran, Andie Ju and Brandon Soo Hoo, as we were first to report.

Marking the feature directorial debut of Malaysian-born filmmaker Jing Ai Ng, the film is set in the underbelly of the Miami art world, where siblings Raymond (Soo Hoo) and Coco Zhang (Ju) run a profitable forgery ring. When the Zhang siblings cross paths with a disgraced millionaire (Donovan), they are coerced into creating counterfeit masterpieces as a front for his old American family’s art collection. Meanwhile, FBI Art Crimes agent Emily Lee (Tran) moves to South Florida and attempts to find the culprits behind a new string of forgeries.

Producers are Liz Daering-Glass under her and Ng’s new label Florida Man Films, Gabrielle Cordero, and Damian Bao (Port Authority) through his production company Qilinverse. Dave A. Liu (Dìdi) will serve as executive producer on the film, which was developed as part of Film Independent’s Screenwriting Lab and Fast Track.

ANNOUNCING THAT I’M GOING TO SPACE!

LOL! JUST KIDDING!

I was trying to say A LOT in this 1 take… 🤣 you should read until the end…

I’m excited to share that I am raising money to help turn the children’s book GOOD THINGS by Maryah Greene aka @greene.piece into a film shooting in NYC this year (will definitely be casting as soon as we get the $$$) Maryah is a Japan-bred, now New York based plant stylist & doctor and former elementary school teacher. GOOD THINGS tells the story of a young African American boy named Malcolm mourning the loss of his father and how caring for houseplants helps him understand his grief and learn about perseverance.

You can find what the F&@* I was trying to say by clicking the link in my bio. Look for GOOD THINGS in my list of links to find where to spread your wealth, or go to the URL below to DONATE! MORE personal perks from me below that’s not listed on the site for my IG followers….

https://seedandspark.com/fund/goodthings

If you donate $25 or more, I will add you to my private VIP summer party invite list, where you will get to hang out with me while we down a huge number of margaritas and other cocktails on the beach this summer in the Rockaways NYC. You will never truly live a full life until you drink a cup of my infamous Jesus Juice! Lol…

For those debating on whether to donate, I guarantee you will have FOMO if you don’t donate now as everyone else on your IG feed will be photographed getting drunk on the beach with me. LOL 😂 And it’s okay if you can’t donate, please share this post!

But seriously on a more important note than the idea of all of us IG friends (yes we are friends if you follow me) getting together at the beach this summer, now more than ever, it is important to support BIPOC authors since the insane f*ckt@rds in conservative states are trying to ban books that feature themes covering race and racism in America, death and grief, LGBTQ+ identities, sex education, BIPOC’s access to healthcare and the inequalities and inequities of our society.

I’m passionate in making sure our stories, our beautiful existences, our humanity do not get erased by bigots!

Baby Damian with Mom in Indonesia sometimes in the 90s… Yep, I totally was the naughty child who had to fold his arms often as punishment because I clumsily ran over and broke everything I touched 😆 LOL

Damian Bao Casting is holding a global open casting call for FORGE, an upcoming crime dark comedy feature film by writer/director Jing Ai Ng.

Supported by Film Independent, FORGE deals with authenticity and identity, in art and in people. FORGE tackles the myth of the model minority, centering on Asian American characters who are unmistakably human. The Zhangs are forgers, and therefore, criminals. We live in a society where appearances and being “ahead” of others are at the forefront of our minds. FORGE is a tragi-comedy, a cautionary tale about how the rat race of modernity has the ability to destroy beautiful things—whether that be art, family, or relationships. FORGE is a tale of greed and youth set in Miami, a story of how a young woman’s ambitions leads to the destruction of her passion for art and eventually, her family.

Casting Director @damianbao welcomes submissions from talent who are union or non-union. Actors, musicians, dancers, influencers, and non-actors are all encouraged to submit! For Asian American talent, this is your chance to be discovered and cast for a breakthrough role in a crime film with all Asian leads.

Please send all inquiries to casting ONLY. Most questions can be answered by visiting the open call site. Swipe the slides for more info and details about the roles.

This is a paid opportunity. For all major roles listed, production will travel and house talent. Filming will start in May 2024 in Miami, Florida. It is 100% FREE to submit and audition for all roles!

TAG AND SHARE THIS OPPORTUNITY WITH YOUR FRIENDS!

A letter from a parent of a young lady I cast in a nationwide search for real teenage basketball players for a commercial for the Balmain x Puma collaboration.

I have been thinking of this letter as I embark on 2024 with casting 2 fully financed featured films. In both films, it is deeply ingrained in my heart and the hearts of the directors I am working with to discover and give opportunities to those that have never thought they were worthy enough to be featured and celebrated on the big screen or historically in American media.

When I was a college freshmen, my queer mentor asked me what I wanted to do in life. I told her that I wanted to help tell stories via images and videos in a new way. I don’t know what that meant then, but I knew I was going to fucking do it. In my unusual journey from street photographer to where I am now, I never imagined the work that I would do could now and then bring the soulful medicine of hope to so many people who feel invisible, unseen, not enough, and blocked by gatekeepers. I am honored to be a part of anyone’s journey at reaching their dreams because without dreams, what is left with life?

If you want to act, I dare you to dream and make a self tape and audition. It’s free to audition. You have nothing to lose. The worst that will happen is that we won’t follow up because you didn’t move to the next round. The best that can happen if you auditioned and won the part is a lot of excitement to be written… #casting
