Full Circle Harlem Profile Information

We’re nearing the 3-year anniversary of @fullcirclebrooklyn , and the opening of @fullcircleharlem is imminent. It seems like a fitting time to revisit the values that are the foundation of Full Circle. Yes, we offer pole dancing classes, but it’s really about bringing more of these values into the world.

I started pole dancing over 12 years ago at a stripper-owned studio in Portland, OR. I was young, sheltered, disconnected from my desires, wanting a creative outlet, insecure in myself, and lonely in a new city. Pole dancing for me has been a long journey towards finding these values for myself - Connection, Creativity, and Compassion.

It’s going to bring something different to everybody that tries it, but at least at full circle I know that every one of our instructors embodies these values in different ways, and I am so thankful for everyone who has taught inside the studio walls.

Full Circle Values

Although Full Circle offers pole dancing classes, the studios and their offerings are primarily a vehicle for the values we want to see embodied more in this world. Our goal is that this space offers all who participate in it increased access to connection, creativity, and compassion. We’re grateful to have inherited the artform of pole dance from the strippers who created it and are honored we get to share it in all its power and evolution with our community.

Connection

Any type of movement can be a powerful tool for connecting to oneself. The unique challenges and opportunities that pole presents make it an especially potent way to connect to your strengths, softnesses, fears, and abilities in ways that encourage growth. By making the studio a non-competitive environment, pole also becomes an amazing way of connecting with others. In this space we cheer each other on, and recognize that there is no singular way to pole dance. By celebrating our differences we can connect more deeply as a community.

Have you been pole-curious for a little while?

We know starting a new hobby or skill can be intimidating! If you’ve been wanting to start pole for a little while, but you’re not sure where to start, we’re here to give you a roadmap

These are the weekly classes that are PERFECT for beginners…

Intro to Pole

Our Intro to Pole classes are the best way to start learning pole technique! Learn the fundamental principles of working with the pole, and start walking, waving, and spinning your way around it. You’ll learn basic moves on the floor, beginner spins, and strengthening moves.

Every Intro class will cover some of the same basic moves, but every teacher brings the class their own flair. We often tell folks to take between 3-5 Intro classes, and then to move on to Level 1 when they’ve mastered some of the basics. But truly, you can take this class once or many times until you feel ready to progress!

Off-the-Pole Classes

Off-the-pole classes are great ways to supplement your pole training. Pole can be hard on the body, and cross-training is so important in mitigating the risk of injury.

Liquid Motion is a floorwork class that we offer that is a perfect way to learn floor-based sensual movement off the pole. It feels good, it looks sexy, plus the class is super approachable and fun for any level! Check out the Liquid Motion site for more details.

Flexibility Training is just what is sounds like! It’s an open-level mobility class - a mix of active and passive stretches and exercises designed to challenge and increase your range of motion. Whether your goal is to get your splits, or just feel better in your body - this open level class will have something for you.

Pole Play

Pole Plays are our opening training sessions. They are the perfect supplement to taking classes - a place where you can practice independently what you learned from your instructors. In pole play, you always have a pole to yourself.
