When they laugh, their black hair falls behind their shoulders as if they were flowing waterfalls. The crossed legs intertwine in a double turn that mimics the movement of the roots of the trees in the forest. They wear modern clothes with brightly colored Persian patterns, which make them look like wonderful warriors ready for battle. «What a good smell. What is it?”. “Pomegranate?”. In an empty room with orange walls and gentle light in Rome’s Auditorium Parco della Musica, eight Iranian women sit in an almost perfect circle. «It seems like the afternoons of our Lolita», observes Isabella Nefar in English, with a joyful voice. «Our Lolita» is Reading Lolita in Tehran, the film directed by the Israeli Eran Riklis and based on the biographical novel of the same name by the writer Azar Nafisi which received the coveted audience prize and the Special Jury prize at the Rome Film Festival female cast.
