We had an amazing time at the Edible Magazine Summer House event at @lalomitaranch this week! It was heartwarming to see so much community support, alongside our local farmers, winemakers, restaurateurs, hospitality leaders, and food lovers who contribute to our food systems. On the final day, two of our SLO Coast wineries showcased wines that captured the essence of the California landscape. The Sinor-LaVallee @sinorlavallee wine social featured crisp cool-climate wines and their PetNat of Pinot Noir, perfectly paired with Brigit Binn’s Cali-Italian sauces. At the Closing Night Dinner, Chef Jacob Burrell @jacobjburrell from Niner Wine Estates @ninerwineestates crafted a spectacular meal with garden-fresh ingredients. The Niner Rosé was a standout in the setting sun, complemented by coastal Chardonnay and Grenache. We loved the Edible Magazine Summer House event at @lalomitaranch this week! So much community love, along with our local farmers, winemakers, restaurateurs, hospitality leaders, and food enthusiasts who nurture our food system in @slocal. Two of our SLO Coast wineries paired wines to taste the California landscape on the final day. The Sinor-LaVallee @sinorlavallee wine social brought fresh cool-climate wines and their PetNat of Pinot Noir to pair with Brigit Binn's Cali-Italian sauces. At the Closing Night Dinner, Chef Jacob Burrell @jacobjburrell of Niner Wine Estates @ninerwineestates, cooked up a masterpiece meal with ingredients grown in their garden. The Niner Rosé was a hit in the fading sunshine, along with coastal Chardonnay and Grenache. It is only fitting that we ended the Edible Magazine Summer House on a bright, sunny day with sessions that had us tasting the California landscape. Three days into the Summer House and La Lomita Ranch @lalomitaranch is really feeling like home Chef Catalina from Coya @coyaperuvianfood shared her story with us through her Peruvian meal (shout out to Claudia Olsen for translating) and showed us up close and personal the traditions of her country; Paso Robles Wine Country Alliance @pasowine members shared their wines; Zoe Elliott Shaw @zoeelliottfood led the kids in a Mediterranean cooking class in the Hacienda featuring Babe Farms @babe_farms produce; Yelp Central Coast Elite-ers @yelpcentralcoast got an exclusive look at the Edible Summer House; Richard Fusillo and LouLou Cheese Girl shot a special brunch feature for the upcoming Edible Central Coast Weddings issue; and we ended the day at the Cookout on the Ranch, courtesy of Wild Horse. With a Santa Maria grilled BBQ by Oak and Vine @oakandvinestay, cocktails at Rod and Hammer’s @rodandhammer mobile whiskey wagon, Wild Horse Winery’s @wildhorsewinery pop up wine bar, ice cream from the Harmony Valley Creamery @hvcreamery truck, creating our own spice blends at the Monkey Spit Hot Sauce’s @monkeyspit1 blending station, customizing a hat at the Gray Rain Hat Bar @grayrainhatbar and with music by Five Parts Devil @fivepartsdevil - the summertime cookout was the best way we could end the day, surrounded by 200 fellow foodies. What an unbelievable day at the Summer House that showed us the richness of SLO County. There was the Sister Kitchen Thai @sisterkitchenthai Cooking Class, Pitch the Journalist with food media (with representation from SFGate, Thrillist, Wine Independent, fellow Edible publications and more, heck yeah!), Chocolate and Tea Experience by Breda @breda_slo and Inari Tea @inariteaandart, the Brecon @breconestate pop up wine bar, LouLou Cheese Girl @louloucheesegirl lemonade service, and ending the night at the sold out Editor’s Dinner, day two of the Summer House was better than we imagined it ever could be.
