In Ebisu, @fujilllllllllllta takes the pulse of the neighbourhood. The artist’s distinctive approach draws on natural phenomena, driven by his desire to uncover and amplify the inaudible – sounds and noises often overlooked in the everyday. « I feel a great sense of joy when I discover a sound I didn’t anticipate. In Ebisu, what was interesting was that each power line pole had a strong sense of individuality. Even though they were similar pipes, each one produced a different sound », describes FUJI|||||||||||TA. « I had never studied the sounds of urban power line poles before, so this was fascinating. An immersive experience led by @fujilllllllllllta in the streets of Ebisu. Tokyo’s district becomes a canvas for the artist’s sound experiments. « When I do field recordings, I unearth sounds we typically can’t hear, like the vibrations of power line poles or city guardrails, » shares FUJI||||||||||TA. « I also try to capture the environment, imagining how its soundscape might gradually permeate my body, would I be embedded in this place for years. LEMAIRE has opened its first store in China. The boutique made its home in the millenary city of Chengdu, renowned for its unique pace. Situated in a quieter corner of Taikoo Li Chengdu, this new space offers a serene refuge within a bustling shopping district. The boutique has been designed to subtly incorporate elements of Chinese culture and Sichuanese savoir-faire, co-existing harmoniously with LEMAIRE’s signature details and its collections. A new LEMAIRE space, designed by artist and architect Lukas Gschwandtner, a long-time LEMAIRE collaborator, has arrived at Dover Street Market. The structure features a hand-stained steel frame supporting canvas pieces. “The origin of my collaboration lies in a shared obsession with draping,” Gschwandtner explains. “For Dover Street Market, I applied references of changing room drapes, but stretched, curved, and pressed.” Described as a traveling pavilion, the installation is designed to be reassembled and deconstructed. “I welded it when I was living in London. From there it travelled to Brussels, Vienna, Beijing, Paris, and now returns home to London.” LEMAIRE at Dover Street Market. 2nd Floor.
