In “The Abomination of Frankenstein” we wanted to create the look and tone of a 70’s Italian Giallo with current day themes. We shot on the Alexa 35 in the S16mm mode and added the nostalgic texture. Being cropped in on the sensor the grain came out so crunchy and gave a really aggressive and lively feeling to the world of the film. Then paired the camera with a vintage S16mm Angenieux 15mm - 300mm from Old Fast Glass to complete the feel whenever we zoomed! NEW BOLEX GEAR ON THE WAY! After the success of our OFG Customs modified Bolex EBM cameras, we are continuing to work on designs for other Bolex Models. Here is the new HD IVS for Bolex REX 5 and the new battery plate for Bolex Rex 5 and SBM cameras. We are working on designs for a simple cage, new top handle, and base plate for these models as well. We plan to announce those in early 2025. We really wanted to added Bolex cameras with the 3-Lens Turret Mount to the OLD FAST GLASS inventory. This lets you to mount three C-Mount lenses at once, and allows instant lens changes. Shown here are our Kern Switar 10mm f1.6, 16mm f1.8 and 26mm f1.1. These lenses were designed specifically to work with reflex Bolex cameras, delivering exceptional image quality, even wide open. They also focus incredibly close. This gives you a very compact, lightweight 16mm film camera. Old Fast Glass will be offering these Bolex REX 5 Cameras with Turret Mounts for rent very soon. Beautiful work by cinematographer @nykallen for Sabrina Carpenter’s @netflix special - “A Nonsense Christmas.” OFG supplied the lenses, and there were a lot of them! This was one of the first projects featuring our new TAMASHII primes. These lenses are a collaboration between OFG, Zero Optik, and Ancient Optics. Nyk also used @ancientoptics Petzvalux primes for some sequences. OFG also supplied a fleet of vintage zooms lenses for the multi-cam performances. We have been excited for more filmmakers to try multi-cam, even live multi-cam, using vintage lenses. Now with so many rehoused vintage zooms, even ones that cover full frame, it’s never been a better time to do it. So great to see how it all came together! Beautiful work from cinematographer @thenamesneema working with director @lewiscater for THE ARCHITECT by Kasey Musgraves. Neema decided to shoot 4-Perf 35mm film for this project, specifically @kodak_shootfilm 5219. He paired an ARRIFLEX 235 with @zerooptik Olympus OM primes. Olympus OM optics were actually the source glass for most of the original MOVIECAM Primes. It’s nice to see them shooting motion picture film again! In their new Zero Optik housings you have a 235 package that’s very compact and lightweight with some lenses weighting just over 1 pound! They also focus incredibly close. We have 2-Perf, 3-Perf, and 4-Perf 235 packages on the shelf ready to work. We recently made an upgrade to our amazing Cooke 10-30mm T1.6. This is one of the only true Super Speed zooms out there. It now has a brand new PL mount, thanks to our friends at @ducloslenses With a zoom lens this fast, and this wide, precision is everything, and the tolerances need to be really tight to keep everything in spec, and make sure those focus marks are perfect day after day, job after job. So the original PL mount had to be upgraded. We think you will appreciate the change. They also made the low profile iris gear which helps with gel the limited amount of clearance near the PL mount. Beautiful work from cinematographer Sevag Chahinian and director Dream Thanika Jenjesda for the film “Never Getting Rid of Me, Bitch.” Sevag paired Sony Venice 2 with vintage @zerootpik Ultra Baltars and an a vintage Angenieux 20-120mm T3 for this project. These Ultra Baltars are a collaboration between cinematographer Ed Lachman, ASC @edlachman and Zero Optik. Since the 40mm and longer form the original Baltars cover Full Frame, Ed wanted to find wide angle lenses that could complete the set on the wide end, so they worked together to develop additional focal lengths. When Ed isn’t using these beautiful lenses for his own projects, you can rent them from Old Fast Glass. As for the Angenieux 20-120mm, it’s one of our oldest cinema zooms, and it’s an excellent match to the Baltars having similar sharpness, contrast, bokeh and flare character.
