Music, Sound Design & Mix for @joinbandsnotgangs In the townships of South Africa there is a high rate of “gangsterism” and associated murders, drug use, etc. Most people fall into this environment as teenagers. This is why the NGO Join Bands not Gangs (JBNG) wants to get children aged 8 to 14 interested in music and give them access to instruments and lessons. The statistics actually show a decline in gangsterism. The protagonist, Dylan, is one of the supported children trying to find his way in a child-unfriendly environment. But as life goes on, all is not always well. Just five months into filming the project, Dylan joined a gang despite his best efforts, leading to his grandmother’s death from a heart attack when she found out.
