right before we put out no rules sandy we put together a very special one-time band comprised of psychic hotline friends and family to play at Newport Folk Festival- we had a truly incredible time throwing a set together in a three day whirlwind. We recently came across a recording of one of the rehearsals and were just too excited to not share it. we are so proud and honored to have been a part of this excellent group of people. The Emmanuel tape is the first in our new @psychichotline bootleg series, a counterpoint to our singles series that will highlight once in a lifetime performances and pay tribute to taper culture. Hi all - last week, working with friends and organizers in the area, we made our first supply run to mutual aid hubs in Asheville and Marshall. No pictures can truly represent the reality of the situation, or the scope of the devastation. There is so much hope and aid being given in the immediate wake of Helene, but cold weather is coming and so many people lost their homes, their livelihoods and all of their possessions. The need for continued support is very great- and will continue to be for months- and even years. We believe that the best way to support the people of WNC is through direct mutual aid- controlled and directed by members of the community who have been most affected by this disaster. We have been and will keep posting links to many of these groups - @belovedasheville @poderemma @_roar_wnc @avlsurvival @pansy.collective and others, as well as the venmo accounts of individual organizers on the ground, all of which are the most direct ways to put your resources in the hands of those who need them. If you live in NC or the surrounding area and want to donate your time, please look into volunteering to work a shift at your nearest distribution center, like the @nc_diaperbank This future that is unfolding before us will require us to hold fast and together- to move through the world by directly supporting each other- to create the safety nets that have not been provided for us and to move forward with creativity and care.
