This shoot was one of the last concepts that Uli executed before they passed, a shoot they had been dreaming up and talking about for months. We could tell how important this was to them, which honestly put the pressure on. Uli always had such high expectations for us, and its safe to say that a lot of what we have achieved behind the camera had so much to do with them being the most amazing cheerleader. For this shoot Uli wanted to create something very GAY that celebrated queer love, and they wanted to have some fun with fashion. There was so much joy on set that day, one of the last few days we spent with Uli, and I am so grateful to have had a front row seat to get to watch them do what they love. This caption was a weird one to write... but it's not lost on me that Uli will be cackling from wherever they are. They loved to see me do things I said I wouldn't, like writing something meaningful on a post of my torso. After 6 years, 6 months, and 12 days of being engaged, we did the thing. We got married in the desert this weekend, Saturday the 4th of May! We have always known this day would come, but we weren't ever quite sure when. Last week was life alterting in the most beautiful way, and we were reminded of everything that we love about each other and learned so much more about ourselves. At 5.30 on Saturday we went to Las Vegas Africa, where a beautiful group of strangers held a service for us. We wrote our vows on paper plates and had the most intimate and beautiful wedding where we were able to fully focus on each other. We want to give a huge thank you to Las Vegas Africa, the strangers who witnessed our wedding, the couple who gave us diamonds to celebrate the day, @inga.mermaidtattoo who walked Armand down the isle and gifted us the most beautiful tattoos that will always represent this adventure for us. Special thanks to everyone who captured the moment, and everyone who celebrated with us afterwards. This is just start of the celebration of our love ❤️ If you are reading this, we love you!

Travelling to the @karoo_winter_wool_festival inspired and recharged us in so many ways. The sense of community, celebration of craftsmanship, and pride in sustainable and ethical practices gave us so much hope for our industry in South Africa. We quickly realized this shoot meant more than just an editorial, it meant recognition. Recognition for so many people, more than just the designers or the models, but also to the farm workers, farmers, weavers, spinners, dyers and Karoo locals. With so many hailing from the Eastern Cape, this felt like a true celebration of the Karoo in every sense, from the fiber to the creative.
