Back in 2016 I redesigned and refurbed La Cheetah, a 200 cap club in Glasgow. This weekend I'm doing a lighting design for their 15th Birthday with Jeff Mills at SWG3 inspired by the blinds and slats from the club design. On that original design one of the biggest challenges was how to bring in bigger subs, increase the DJ booth space and increase capacity on the dancefloor. I ended up putting the subs directly under the (concrete) DJ table and building a slatted booth facade to allow the sound out transparently. These angled slats then became the design motif for the whole club.

Touring is over for the year and I'm home for a while now. It was really sick to be back on the road with @segabodega this year. I think he really came into his own on this tour and is making some of the best and underrated music in his field. Thanks to him for trusting me to just go fully off the deep end with the lighting programming and stage directions and for being a true collaborator with the lighting changing the music in the set as much as following it. This trans pride look in the show is from the end of Um Um - a tribute to our late friend Sophie, which had me choked most nights. Will share more clips from across the tour soon.

Laser installation for Warp's Aphex Twin Selected Ambient Works II 30th anniversary listening event at The Tate Modern. Honoured to be trusted with this one. Anyone who knows my music taste knows I'm a massive afx fan. Laser reflected off of a mirror, submerged in a liquid, resonated by multiple drivers being fed live audio and agitated by a fan. The audio feed doing the vibrations was a combination of processed live album audio and synthesis using the live audio as a modulation source. Massive shout out to Jack for prototyping my mental idea and programming the laser animations and generally being amazing to work with as always. Tour design for @0800shygirl from the end of last year. Featuring a large sealed lightbox, with polycarbonate panels acting as lenses, that could be filled with fog and evacuated again for various looks. Club Mid Air tour for @romyromyromy from the end of last year. Trying to make these standard concert venues feel like the small vibey clubs we grew up in: from the opening DJs playing on the floor with just a strip light, hand painted sign and a fog machine, to referencing budget oldschool moonflower lights for the main live stage show. Took four of these mental @minuit_une laser fixtures around in massive pelis which we managed to get just under the 32kg weight limit for flying by removing the retractable handles from the pelis (1.9kg in those handles alone - pro tip!).
