Not long ago I was told by a producer that I didn't get the job and then he said: "by the way the client didn't look at your website but at your Instagram instead"
I was quite shocked... to me Insta was never meant to be a work platform, if you'd like to see my work, please go to my website but not where I take pictures of my vacations.
Well, these days it is unfortunately a reality, people get hired because of their Instagram.
So, I'm going to swallow my old school mentality, go with the flow, and post most of my DP work in here.
Here we go.
I shot this spot a long time ago, at the time where the 5D/L series lenses were the bomb. Also at that time I still had a lot of hair.
Always a pleasure to travel to Marseille to shoot with my friends
@hvhparismarseille .
We were shooting these spots with a very minimal crew, producers were directing and for this one I was doing lighting/camera by myself.
At the time there was no Astera tubes nor Quasars so you had to go to a hardware store, buy fluorescent ceiling lights, rig them, power them, and try to make them look cool in frame. The difficulty on this shoot was to turn them on when we wanted, there was no app or Ipad to help you do that.
We had to plug them in one by one, and because there was always a delay when turning them on, it became quite a challenge. We had 4 at the bottom and 7 at the top, I have to say, it was a lighting choreography to make it work precisely during the dolly push.
We shot this spot at the Velodrome, the pride of Marseille.
Well, Instagram, you got me, but don't expect me to buy fake followers.
