This metallic trompe-l’œil borrows its shape from one of the most common vehicles of power. Today, credit card has turned into a highly customizable and fashionable object of desire, almost equalling its primary monetary function. By distorting its easily identifiable visual elements, Space Afrika reroutes this power artifact to a darker vision of reality, while sharing concerns on the commodification of subculture. MONO - SPACE AFRIKA ( @space_afrika ) A musical duo hailing from Manchester, Space Afrika (Joshua Inyang and Joshua Tarelle Reid) are known for immerging their intimate sets of industrial, fragmented and foggy ambient music into visual explorations of the city. This collection of images, mostly shot by night on a handycam, are bathed in a dreamy melancholy. (MONO is a series of monographic and monochromatic cartes blanches. Each edition is printed in 100 copies in risography, with an ink colour chosen by the artist.) Artist Takeover | 54: Manchester This summer the first ever Artist Takeovers took place in the Warehouse space, inviting artists to experiment and create at scale. Exploring the Black British experience in the North West, artist collective 54: Manchester created an immersive audio-visual installation. Proud to share this special commission in collaboration with @o0rossalexander0o 🔊 with support from @hausfuerpoesie and @tresorberlin To Have Been A Part (Where Are We Today...) uses spoken recordings of a selection of comments from online videos documenting British raves of the 1980s and 90s. Set with collaged sound elements, they can be experienced via a loudspeaker in the form of a site-specific sound installation on the grounds of the @kraftwerkberlinofficial building hosting the Tresor nightclub. The installation is on view until early October and throughout @berlinatonal.
